TRUCKS: Caution free race at Pikes Pike gives series veteran Colin Dryburgh first last-place finish of his career

Colin Dryburgh picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Rainbow Dash Truck Series career in Monday's NAPA 300K at the Pikes Peak International Raceway when his #55 Icehouse Beer Ford completed all 19 laps under power.

The finish came in his 44th career series start. In the Truck Series's last-place rankings, it was the 28th for running at the finish and 2nd for the #55. Across SCRL's top three series, it was the 118th for running at the finish and the 2nd for #55.

Dryburgh has been a part of the Rainbow Dash Truck Series since the start, competing in the full twenty race inaugural series scoring one win at the Milwaukee Mile and coming just 90 points away from Jay Barker in becoming the first ever series champion. A return in Season 2 would see Dryburgh win two more times, at Richmond and the fall event at Phoenix, but would finish a disappointing 34th in points after competing in only 17 of the events.

After choosing to sit out the past two seasons, Dryburgh is back competing full time, driving for a new team, Gloy-Rahal Racing, and looking to grab the championship he narrowly missed out on. In his first race back, Dryburgh would finish a disappointing 26th at Homestead, a 14th at Phoenix, a runner up second to Nathan Ormond at Evergreen, a 18th at Mesa Marin, a second runner up, this time to Nick Holiday at Martinsville before finishing 11th in the last round at Memphis.

The entry list for the fifth time this season would be the usual 36 as Jamie Timber's team have no plans to make anymore starts until the tenth race of the season at Texas which means that no truck would fail to qualify for the third race in a row.

In qualifying, Colin Cropley would score his first career series pole, posting a time of 27.049 seconds. Dryburgh would struggle in qualifying around the one mile track, posting a time of 27.313 seconds, 0.264 seconds behind Cropley's time, placing him 29th on the starting line up. Martinsville last-place finisher the #26 Mittler Brothers / American Trucking Ford of Derrick Edison would be the last to get in on speed, posting a time of 27.460 seconds, who was 0.411 seconds behind Cropley's lap time.

On race day, Edison was determined to not finish last for the second time this season as he would knock the #1 Mopar Performance Dodge of Angel Gutierrez back to last, who would trail for the first three circuits. Gutierrez would then knock the #87 AER Manufacturing Chevrolet of Josh Harmon into the final spot on Lap 4, a position he would hold for only one circuit before he knocked the #7 Conely Rent-a-Car Sales Chevrolet of Tyler Kepman into last on Lap 5. Kepman would trail for two circuits before knocking the #98 Porter-Cable Power Tools Ford of Al Lagasee into last on Lap 7, but his stay in the final spot would be short lived as well, as Lagasee would knock the #99 Exide Batteries Ford of Chakat Whitelion into the final spot on Lap 8. Whitelion would trail for two laps before shi would knock the #17 Hastings Premium Filters Ford of Lucien Bianchi into last on Lap 10 before he would knock Edison back into last for the second time on Lap 11.

Edison this time would trail for three circuits before knocking Dryburgh into last for the first time on Lap 14. Dryburgh would remain in last for three laps himself before knocking Harmon back to last on Lap 17, a spot that Harmon would hold entering the final lap, and would make the move in Turn 2, knocking Dryburgh back to last as Dryburgh would have no time to recover and would trail as the field took the checkered flag.
Pierson would be moved up one spot due to Hathaway's exit but that is all she would do, finishing two laps behind the race leaders when the checkered flag waved, placing her 35th.

The remaining Bottom Five were; 35th was the aforementioned #87 of Josh Harmon, 34th was the #14 Circle Bar Motel & RV Park of Michael Brown, 33rd was the aforementioned #17 of Lucien Bianchi and 32nd was the aforementioned #26 of Derrick Edison.
